Cancer Hodgkin's Lymphoma Lymphoma

It goes down in the DM

by admin / March 10, 2016

Aside from the obvious of staying alive, one of my concerns was that oh my god, I’m officially damaged goods, I have cancer. If you were recently diagnosed, you are in treatment, or even in remission and have this way of thinking, stop what you’re doing and listen to me, now. This is NOT true. This is going to sound insane, but I think I get hit on more with cancer than I ever did before. Seriously, it goes down in the DM lately. (I got my first DM on Instagram last week, but you hooked up with my best friend Briana, so bye.) I’m not joking when I say that one week, three different doctors asked me to go to dinner (including Dr. X. Ha!) granted they were all doctors at the hospital I was at, but that’s completely fine with me because I plan on marrying a doctor anyways. Just kidding! Hey guys, just don’t ask me 7 days after chemo because that’s when I become Neutropenic and my mom is a dictator ….and won’t let me leave my apt, so I can give you better dates to choose. Kidding. I’m sorry mom, I know you’re reading this right now and shaking your head. I work with doctors every day, and have such a new found respect for them after dealing with all of this. They are the most compassionate people in the world. I’m sorry for harassing all of you to write my products and shoving my samples down your throats, I know you have lives to save! 😉

Of course, there are going to be losers out there who are going to treat you completely different because you’re sick. And a lot of men don’t know how to handle situations like this. So, they will try to compare minor skin infections such as rashes or freckles that have to be removed because of a “cancer scare” to your cancer. Congratulations, you were the highlight of my jokes for the past month and I was dying laughing every time I looked at the screen shots of your insane comments. All you can really do is laugh it off.  But in all honesty, having cancer wakes you up and helps you realize what you really want when you’re dating someone. I’m not trying to say that dating while you have cancer should be a priority and that you should go download bumble RIGHT NOW because obviously it’s NOT. I mean..if you are at JMH or Sylvester though, all of the hot doctors are on that app (just a heads up..trust me..I helped a bunch swipe right during my hospital stay) so you could try. Ha! But all jokes aside, you can still have fun and talk to people. It helps you realize so much. I’m clearly not a dating expert (mainly because I just don’t care. I’m more about my career and don’t put up with bs or jerks as you all know) *still single at 28*. But, if you’re dating someone and they can’t handle the fact that you have cancer, then they don’t deserve you anyways.  I was told that when you get married, you’re supposed to spend the rest of your life with this person..yikes. Would you really want to date someone who would leave you or not be interested in you just because you’re going through chemo and your hair is no longer on point? Um, probably not. That would probably mean when you’re older, wrinkled up, and not as pretty, that same person might leave you for your 21 year old babysitter.

Hey Stranger!!! I just read both of your blog posts and I am in total shock (I had no idea this was occurring) ..yet not the least bit surprised you are handling such a horrific endeavor in such an amazing way! You were always a charismatic, optimistic, free-spirited individual who no one could ever corral, always on a mission… there one minute, gone the next..”Hey where did that pretty girl in the high heels double-fisting brews run off to?” -random frat guy… “She said you were lame, your friends are lame and this party is lame ..so she bounced” – me (typical night)….and still a little boy (dr) crazy I see..even in the cancer clinic…hey why not right?. You are a brave soul and I wish you the best of luck in this long journey of yours, I know you will be 100% cancer free one day soon and you will be able to reflect on your darkest days and realize that you always found a way to make the room smile and laugh by simply being Jess and not ever the cancer. I have witnessed many go through this battle and you are most certainly right, it is more mental than anything… so never let your spirit be broken, God Bless, Wish you and your family the absolute best of luck!

..And keep up these posts, I write all the time, it is hands down the best therapy.

..badass beauty salon hair weave pics on that next post, please, thank you
